🦩 Careers can take you in any direction, sideways, up, down, or off the path entirely - they're non-linear and should align with work YOU’RE passionate about..

✋ Read this first
A few words of caution before you delve in, we know you're keen, but hear us out first 😅
The framework is designed to show what type of things someone might do when they’ve achieved that level. You can demonstrate different capabilities and achieve different tasks of similar complexity, scope, or impact, and still achieve a level. Your manager will help decide what these look like with you.

✅ Career Frameworks are:
- Are cumulative, once you progress onto another part of the path, we expect you to still be showing up against the previous area's expectations.
- Need a level of interpretation when navigating, your manager is your guide for this.
- Allow for people to move around levels (up, down, left, right) without having experienced certain skills or behaviors, as long as they can instill confidence they're meeting the most of the expectations of the level they're moving into.

❌ Career Frameworks are not:
- Are not a check box exercise, but a career’s worth of growth that you could experience in many directions - sometimes squiggly!
- Do not provide a magic formula for you to calculate your progression onto another part of the path, this leaves a little room for the uniqueness that every single one of us brings to work each day.
- Will not describe every possible skill or experience needed to grow, think of it as a compass that guides you, the map lies within the conversations you have with your manager.

🧱 How the Career Framework is the foundation of the 🥼 journey
Career Frameworks are the foundation that underpins the TalentLab journey - it begins with clarity of the levels of experience we have across our organization.
- Recruitment
- Onboarding
- Performance
- Growth
- Separation
🌱 Introducing theTalentLab Career Framework
- We have two career paths: Individual Contributor and Manager which overlap significantly over the course of a career.
- This framework allows us to be vendor agnostic when benchmarking salaries with external surveys, more levels can be unlocked with each phase of company growth.
Career Framework
🏠 Role Families
- A group of roles that involve similar types of work
- In other businesses it's also known as a group of professions
- Each role family has 😎 Role Expertise, that differentiates them from another role family.
e.g. Expertise in Finance could be 'Accounting', or in PX could be 'Recruiting'
- A role family is not a department - a dept can consist of roles from multiple role families
e.g. A Product Manager would normally work in 'Product' but could also work in PX, or Service Operations if that department needs that role.
- People do move role families! Known someone that started in Engineering and moved to Product? Or a Marketing person that moved into PX? Sure ya do!
🎯 Capabilities
Within each level of the Career Frameworks, we have 7 core capabilities that indicate the change needed at each phase (or level) of development.
